Understanding FAST Grades
3–10 ELA Reading andMathematics Reports forFamilies
For the 2024–2025 school year, all Florida schools will transition to the Florida Benchmark for Excellent Student Thinking(B.E.S.T.) content standards and to the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) for Grades 3–10 ELA Reading andGrades 3–8 Mathematics.

There will be three progress monitoring (PM) windows for FAST:• PM1 – because this administration occurs at the very beginning of the school year, it is designed to provide abaseline score so teachers can track student progress in learning the B.E.S.T. Standards from PM1 to PM2.• PM2 – this administration will provide a mid-year score to compare to the baseline score from PM1.• PM3 – this last administration will provide a summative score that will accurately measure student mastery ofthe B.E.S.T. Standards at the end of the school year
Parents will be required to enter the following information to log into the FDOE Family Portal for each child:
– Student’s unique six-digit access code (Located under the student’s email under Student Information Box)
– Student’s date of birth
– Student’s first name (as listed on DSIS)
Test Taking Tips for Parents
Become Knowledgeable About the TestThe FSA assesses a child’s knowledge of the grade level Standards at a particular point in time. For more information and sample practice tests below.
Ensure a Good Night’s Sleep and AttendanceMake sure your child is in school during the testing sessions. Students should get plenty of rest the night before, and on the morning of the test, make sure your child wakes up in plenty of time so the student does not feel rushed.
Provide A Healthy BreakfastStudies show that students that have eaten a healthy breakfast score much better on tests than those students who are hungry and unable to fully concentrate during tests.
Cell Phones/Electronic DevicesStudents may NOT have any electronic devices or recording devices at their desk, in their pockets, or anywhere they can be reached during testing, even if they are turned off or not used.
Encourage Your Child To Do His/Her BestRemind your student that they have studied and worked hard all year, and they have every reason to feel confident that they will be successful. Encourage your child to relax and do their best.
